Take 3 or more classes a week of any genre for a discount. This is ideal for dancers exploring genres or for aspiring competitors.
Stretch and Strength is FREE for all registered dancers.
$60/month for one weekly class of a specified genre. Classes meet for one hour, once a week.
Stretch & Strength is FREE for all registered dancers.
Competitors are required to take ballet and stretch and strength each week and encouraged to take as many other classes as possible. Competitors also have a weekly prep class that focusses on specialty choreography and technique.
FREE for all dancers at DSE!
This workout class is geared towards the conditioning that dancers need as well as educational components to enhance our students' athleticism in their futures.
Each week the dancers get an extra day in the studio, learn some fun workouts, and supplement their regularly scheduled class with new awareness and physicality.
This class is STRONGLY encouraged for all DSE athletes and MANDATORY for all competitors.
Dancers 3-5 years old.
Ballet and tap dance are both included in the instruction during this up-beat hour of movement!
Preparing the toddlers for their future beginner level classes is a priority as we focus on basic dance skills, vocabulary, and etiquette. We also incorporate choreography and include our Btties at every performance!
Bitties are allowed to participate in to Stretch and Strength classes with parental support.
BEGINNER & INTERMEDIATE LEVELS
High energy and "swaggy!"
This class is choreography driven, but uses a wide variety of styles within the hip-hop genre, including basic breakdancing techniques.
Class is structured with a strengthening warm up, some across the floor progressions, and typically ends with a freestyle cypher.
Beginner level is for ages 5-9 and Intermediate level is 10+ years.
All music and movement for both levels is kid and age appropriate.
Jazz is offered for dancers of all ages that do have dance experience.
Jazz dance is fun and upbeat but require a lot of technical ability which can be supported by taking a ballet class.
Jazz is usually thought of as a cool bass and a saxophone, and jazz dance can also represent that however, jazz dance is widely seen in commercials.
BEGINNER & INTERMEDIATE LEVELS
All levels begin with barre exercise followed by across the floor work including leaps and turns.
Beginner level is for ages 5-9 that have very little, or no previous dance experience. Dancers focus on terminology, technique, and an appreciation for the athleticism.
Intermediate/advanced classes are for dancers with previous dance experience that have dedication to their technique and performance and includes pointe shoe preparation.
Dancers may not be considered for pointe until passing a pointe exam and must be at least the age of 11.
BEGINNER & INTERMEDIATE LEVELS
Tap dance is like being a drummer with your feet!
This class is supplemented with music theory and tap history for a deeper understanding of foundational tap skills.
Lyrical and contemporary genres of dance typically draw upon the emotional aspects of expression.
Lyrical dance aligns more with ballet technique and has a more graceful, flowy feeling. Contemporary dance typically has graceful movement contrasted by sharper techniques with flexed feet and floor work.
Dance experience is preferred for this class as it is a genre that utilizes a lot of ballet technique.
This class is choreography driven, but structures around center barre, flexibility and strength training, across the floor progressions including leaps and turns, and floor work.
Dancers can either be invited, or ask to audition for the competition team. Selection for the team happens over the summer for the upcoming year.
Competitors are expected to have superb class attendance and participation. Ballet and Stretch & Strength classes are MANDATORY for all competitive dancers along with their weekly Comp Prep classes in which we focus on leaps/turns/tricks and choreography.
We participate in competitions in Albuquerque, NM, Amarillo and Lubbock, TX and Fluid Dance Convention in Albuquerque.
